Rogues have been called the “Cooldown Class” in World of Warcraft. While it is true that we boast more cooldowns than any other class, it’s not exactly true that we can’t win fights without them. While it is true that we boast more cooldowns than any other class, it’s not exactly true that we can’t win fights without them. Also….it’s true that using your cooldowns properly will drastically increase your chances of finishing a fight efficiently. Wow, that’s…a lot of truth. Anyway, It occurred to me the other day that in World of Warcraft, Rogues (me too) tend to rapidly just spam any old cooldown when trying to get out of a sticky situation. That’s why I’m writing this article. While not incredibly specific to any certain situation, these general tips will help you to decide and determine which cooldowns to use, when to use them and when to conserve them in World of Warcraft.

When we’re striving to raw DPS, the best way to increase it is to create a “Cooldown order”, or a rotation to use your cooldowns in. By using cooldowns in an even manner and not spamming them all at the same time, you allow yourself to gain the advantage of sustained dps rather than a quick boost that may or may not work, also you save some for a rainy day (unexpected behavior from an opponent). For instance, if you were to pop Adrenaline Rush and Blade Flurry when fighting an opponent in WoW, yes you’re going to do a lot of damage in that instance, but what happens when another opponent steps in against you. Now you’re certainly doomed because you didn’t save your cooldowns for when you “really” needed them.

Likewise, if you pop all your cooldowns against a Paladin or another Rogue, what happens if they vanish or bubble? You’re left with you cooldowns ticking down while they wait you out. Now, if you were to pop Adrenaline Rush first, then the Pally bubbles on you, you’ve still got Blade Flurry for when he comes out.Even in World of Warcraft, the old saying still rings true….better safe than sorry.

Assassination Rogues have the possibility of doing incredibly amounts of damage in World of Warcraft’s present climate. The only kicker is, that you’ve got to be behind your target and that you’ve got to have a collection of certain talents that all work in complete synergy together. Granted you have the right spec and the right gear, a good World of Warcraft DPS Rotation never hurt either. Here’s the most popular Assassination DPS Rotation in World of Warcraft today.

First: Garrote to start the bleeding.

Second: Mutilate until you’ve reached 5 points. You should also be applying poisons at this time which in turn will boost future Mutilate damage.

Third: Rupture – MORE BLOOD!

Fourth: Mutilate to 5 combo points.

Fifth: Slice and Dice

Sixth: Mutilate to 5

Seventh: Envenom

Rinse and repeat the rotation. Remember that Slice and Dice is extremely important and should be kept up at all times, even if it means sacrificing the rotation for a second so you can get back on track. Envenom should only be used when you have 5 Deadly Poison stacks on the target. Good luck raiding World of Warcraft Rogues!

Today, I go over the best World of Warcraft Rogue Gems that money..err..gold can buy…or you can earn. Whatever, here they are =)

Meta Rogue Gems

Since you’re wanting pure DPS as a wow rogue, check out these sweet METAs.

Relentless Earthsiege Diamond

Chaotic Skyflare Diamond

Swift Skyflare Diamond

Red Rogue Gems

To get the most bang for your buck, you’ll most likely want to go with some attack power gems for your red slot. Agility is good, but raw attack power trumps it if you’ve already got a decent crit chance.

Bright Cardinal Ruby

Yellow Rogue Gems

If you haven’t yet reached your 164 hit cap, then you’ll want to socket with +hit for your yellow gems. Tadaaa! These yellows are some badasses.

Rigid King’s Amber

Pristine Ametrine

Blue Purple Rogue Gems

If you’ve absolutely got to socket a blue gem (and not just ignore the bonus and go for more reds or yellows), then you’ll want to socket Stamina.

Steady Eye of Zul
Vivid Eye of Zul

Have fun collecting!
